Eternal Forgiveness

What a concept is eternal forgiveness!

We often talk about eternal life, the unending stream of the life of God working in us and through us. But in order for this to be accomplished, in order for the righteousness of God to be ours, the problem of our sin had to be dealt with entirely, completely and finally.   This is one aspect of what Jesus did!

As I fly over the jungle occasionally I will see a tiny hamlet of people way out in the middle of nowhere.  Nowhere from nowhere must be somewhere, right?  I wonder how in the world will those people ever hear in my lifetime about what Jesus has done for them?

Jesus Christ satisfied our debt of sin so that forgiveness could be ours once and for all of eternity.  This is the message of hope and life that we bring to remote people.  The price and penalty of sin has been paid in full.  There is nothing to be added.  The power of sin has been broken. Christ, the Just One, suffered once for our sins that He might bring us to God.   After He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, He sat down at the right hand of God.  This the “good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people.”  Being unrighteous in all of our own self-righteousness, we have only to relinquish our hold on our own “goodness” and, by faith, trust in Christ’s righteousness, the righteousness which satisfied God’s wrath against our sin.  This is Good News. The work is done. “It is finished!”  I know that includes those people way out in the middle of nowhere, so how will they know about it?

Finnesterre Mountains

In years past I often flew over a remote airstrip in the mountains wondering how the people there would hear the Good News. Today there are Dinangat believers there.  The Good News has begun to be spread among their people.

There are millions of men, women and children who have never heard this good news. Our job as believers in Jesus Christ is to give them, the people of our lifetime, the opportunity to believe.   While doing so we give opportunity to generations to come to trust in Christ.  The opportunity to have eternal life and eternal forgiveness is not ours to keep to ourselves.

1Peter 3:18  “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”

Hebrews 10:12  “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;”

This past week the missionary team in the Patpatar tribe began teaching.  They will be teaching key lessons through the Old Testament to lay the foundation for understanding the Good News.  This material would be similar to what is available at GoodSeed:  Yes, my brother works in the wonderful ministry there!

Do you remember the video “Ee-Taow!“?  In addition to the outreach among the Lusi people, the Mouk church is preparing to begin an evangelistic outreach to the Kombe tribe. Pray for the Mouk people as they prepare.  This Good News will not be delivered without spiritual opposition, but we know Who has already won the victory!

Thanks for praying with us!
