It’s slow for flying this week.  That means that I’m supposed to have time to catch up on billing, cut some grass around the hangar, fix up a few things, make improvements around the house and hangar and go in to Kimbe to order that same shipment of fuel for the third time in a month.  Somehow the “To Do” list never seems to run out.  Any spare time is used planning, scheduling and communicating to coordinate flights.

Little time eaters are always “about” to fill up the extra gaps.  This week we had a flood where the “twin tub” washing machine upstairs overflowed. I picked up about five gallons of water in my office (bedroom) with towels. We had a few rugs which soaked up quite a bit and limited damage to items at floor level. It will take a few more days before everything is dried out and the house is back to normal.  Also, the replacement for my notebook computer which died in November came this week, so it’s taking some time to unload Vista, install XP and unload my personal files from the NTMA computer.

Life around the Islands support center is pretty much “normal.”  The toddlers keep the moms busy, the teachers keep the school kids busy and the rest of us keep working toward filling the gaps in our areas of expertise.

Construction on the new vehicle workshop has halted due to lack of construction personnel to finish it. (Pray for laborers of every kind.)  The roof was on before our conference so we met in the workshop this year.  We are praying for a car hoist or two to put in the work bays.

We are praying for a gymnasium / multi-purpose building to be started and completed in the next ten months. The small tennis court is not protected from the blazing sun in dry season or the continuous rain of “wetter” season and is much too small for the growing school. The room we have been using for gatherings is too small to hold all of us at once, so the gym will serve as a meeting hall for the many events here.

Our Islands Supply Buyer is in Cairns, Australia while his wife recovers from surgery. Meanwhile, Namuel is trying to fill in the gap, helping me load the airplane, filling grocery orders for bush missionaries and keeping shelves stocked so that the rest of us have something to eat. The store time can be a social event, too, for up to an hour three times a week.

These pictures show a bit of our non-flying world and the goings-on we hear from our house.

Thanks for praying for us and the support team here!

  1. Thanks for showing pictures of your non-flying world and even the flying picture – South Coast passengers. May God richly supply your needs.
